Backend Engineer
Full-time - Stockholm
We’re looking for an ambitious infrastructure and cloud engineer to join our team at our office in Stockholm. You’ll own the platform our engineers build on—and make sure it’s secure, reliable, and performant by design, not as an afterthought.
Managing money is a business built on trust. A security breach or an incorrectly executed payment isn’t something that can be tolerated—and that’s exactly what makes the problems you’ll work on genuinely hard and interesting.
You’ll work closely with other talented engineers and the founders in a company where things get shipped fast and have real, immediate impact on customers.
About Atlar
Atlar is the AI-native treasury platform used by today’s leading growth companies to manage cash, payments, forecasting, and liquidity in one place. Teams at Lovable, GetYourGuide, Storytel, Tide, Trustly, and Zilch use Atlar to connect their banks and ERPs in a single platform, save thousands of hours of manual work, unlock idle cash, and reduce errors at scale.
Atlar is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and backed by Index Ventures, investors in category-defining companies such as Adyen, Revolut, Figma, and more.
Joining us, you will
Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure. Design, build, and operate our AWS environment as code with AWS CDK. Our stack is fully managed and serverless-first—ECS on Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and SNS—so the work is about architecture, automation, and guardrails, not patching servers. You set the standard for how infra is provisioned and run at Atlar.
Run the developer platform. Own our CI/CD and GitHub Actions pipelines and the deployment story end-to-end. Treat developer experience as a product: build the golden paths, tooling, and abstractions that let engineers—and increasingly non-engineers—ship safely and fast without filing tickets.
Make reliability, observability, and cost first-class. Build the monitoring, alerting, and guardrails that let us catch problems early, understand our systems in production, and spend efficiently as we scale.
Secure the stack end-to-end. Harden our AWS deployment, our CI/CD pipelines, and our backend services (mainly Go) by designing and enforcing robust controls, and make “secure by default” the easiest path for every engineer—without slowing product velocity.
Drive vulnerability management and incident response. Own threat modelling for the infrastructure, coordinate penetration testing, triage vulnerabilities, and help lead rapid, well-drilled responses when something goes bump in the night.
Support our compliance posture. Supply the infrastructure controls, logging, and automated evidence (access management, change control, monitoring) that our security engineer relies on to maintain SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001—so audits stay a non-event.
Who you are
Driven. You’re not just here to write code—you’re here to win and make a significant impact.
Passionate. You’re insatiably curious and forever asking “why?” Your keen interest in payments and fintech drives your desire to learn more each day.
Autonomous. You take ownership of projects and see them through to completion. You’re self-directed, proactive, and able to handle uncertainty. You learn as you go.
A builder for others. You enjoy building things other people build on. Good infrastructure and tooling, to you, is a product—measured by how much faster and safer it makes everyone else.
Systems-minded. You think in failure modes, blast radius, and how services, dependencies, and system architecture fit together. You sweat the details that matter for reliability and security, and you know when “good enough and shipped” beats “perfect and late.”
Requirements
Strong hands-on experience building and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS or similar (e.g. GCP, Azure), including infrastructure-as-code with AWS CDK (or comparable, e.g. Terraform/Pulumi) and CI/CD.
Solid grounding in security fundamentals—how systems get compromised and how to design controls that detect, reduce, and/or prevent.
Comfortable writing and reasoning about backend code—especially the application code that lives at the intersection of infrastructure and platform (internal tooling, services, and automation). We’re mainly Go; experience with it is a plus, not a must.
A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
Fluency in English.
Prior knowledge of finance and banking is not a requirement—a willingness and ability to learn about them is!
